This course is designed to give undergraduate students an introduction into how data is being used in recent research to understand and address economic and societal challenges. Topics Course in Applied Microeconomics: Field Experiments and Survey-Based Research
Elective course in the PhD in Economics program at the University of Bonn
This PhD-level course will introduce students to frontier research in applied microeconomics using two commonly used research methods: field experiments and survey-based research. Students will gain both a conceptual understanding and practical skills for conducting original empirical research using these methods. Readings, in-class presentations, and discussions will center on recent, well-published papers in applied microeconomics across different contexts – education, socioeconomic inequality, gender inequality, climate action, public policy preferences – chosen to showcase recent work.
